Hardman Design Goes Carbon Neutral
Hardman Design has gone carbon neutral, as part of our pledge to build handmade sustainable furniture.
In our drive to help protect the planet, we are tracking all of our processes and engaging in carbon offsetting practises, such as tree planting - a significant climate change mitigator.
It means that our customers can purchase a piece of furniture from us, safe in the knowledge that the entire production journey is carbon neutral - from order to delivery.
We have partnered with Plant-for-the-Planet to engage in an active tree planting campaign and to compensate our greenhouse gas emissions (CO2 equivalents).
Our other eco-friendly practices include:
- Using 100% FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified wood from locally-sourced, trusted suppliers.
- Building quality furniture which lasts for generations, reducing premature disposal and easing pressure on landfill.
- Hand-picking woods which are then milled and dried in-house, aiding self-sufficiency and enhancing efficiency, which reduces waste and conserves energy.
- Enhancing our tables with eco-friendly and high-quality finishes from the Osmo range, which are made from carefully harvested natural oils and waxes.
- Recycling/reusing all packaging in-house.
Liam Hardman, Hardman Design Founder, said: “We are a responsible furniture-maker, so adding sustainability to our core values is important to us.
“We are climate conscious and we recognise how crucial it is to mitigate the effects of climate change, so adopting a carbon-neutral approach has been a natural process.
“We believe that sustainability can be synonymous with high-quality design so we are striking a balance between being true to our craft and protecting our planet through carbon-offsetting and eco-friendly practises.”
